The Helen Doron Group Presents Ready Steady Move
– an exciting and entertaining way for children to learn English through movement and fun
October 2, 2006 - Galilee, Israel
The Helen Doron Group, international leader in educational programs for children, announces the launch of Ready Steady Move, a fresh, innovative and creative approach to teaching movement and dance through English for 4-6 year olds. Ready Steady Move is the newest addition to the internationally acclaimed Helen Doron Early English programs.
Written by experts in the fields of Movement, Dance and English as a Second
Language, all
Ready Steady Move sessions are implemented by professionally
trained teachers. Classes are offered in kindergartens and fitness centres.
According to Movement Education and English as a Foreign Language Specialist,
Andrea Lang-Raz, Program Developer and Coordinator, “In focusing on the mindbody
connection,
Ready Steady Move fosters open, positive associations with
English language learning. Activities have been included that stimulate both brain
hemispheres to function together, thus promoting whole brain learning.”
Ready Steady Move uses movement to promote second language learning. Based on the premise that an active body is a learning body, Ready Steady Move’s creators know that feeling confident about his/her own body greatly enhances a child’s health and self-esteem, which are important tools that last a lifetime.
The use of movement directly relates to the language being introduced, greatly enhancing children’s comprehension and retention of word meanings. As the sessions progress, the children’s movement vocabulary develops alongside that of their English vocabulary. The children’s increasing breadth and sophistication in language is mirrored by their growing movement repertoire.
Areas of focus include: breathing, coordination, body strength and control, stretching, and relaxation.
